TAURON has completed construction works at the Piotrków wind farm. The installation with a total capacity of 30 MW will satisfy the energy needs of 35 thousand. households. It is the tenth wind farm of the TAURON Group, and the installed capacity in this technology exceeded 400 MW.
The new TAURON power plant was built in the Łódź Voivodeship, 10 km from Piotrków Trybunalski. In total, 15 wind turbines were erected in the municipalities of Wolbórz and Moszczenica, each with a capacity of 2 MW and a height of 123m. The expected average annual production of energy from the installation is estimated at 90.1 GWh. As a result, about 76.6 thousand will go into the atmosphere. tonnes of CO2 less than if the same amount of electricity had been produced by conventional generation sources.
- Piotrków is the tenth wind farm operating in the TAURON Group, three more projects are currently being implemented. As part of the green transformation, we are consistently expanding the portfolio of low- and zero-emission generation assets - says Paweł Szczeszek, President of the Management Board of TAURON Polska Energia. - In the perspective of 2025, we plan to double the amount of ownership in wind energy, and in 2030 we want to have 1100 MW installed in this technology - adds the President of TAURON.
Today TAURON has ten wind farms, i.e. Piotrków, Zagórze, Wicko, Marszewo, Lipniki, Śniatowo, Mogilno, Inowrocław, Dobrzyń, Gołdap, where electricity is produced by 182 wind turbines with a total capacity of 410 MW. In June this year, TAURON purchased the Mierzyn wind farm project in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Thanks to this investment, the Group will increase its green capacity by almost 60 MW.
At the beginning of October, Tauron announced that it will implement an investment with a total capacity of 20 MW, located in Nowa Brzeźnica in the Łódź Province. Electricity will flow into the grid from here in early 2025. The Nowa Brzeźnica wind farm will provide energy to 19 thousand. households. The farm will consist of a total of 9 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.2 MW.
