Over PLN 4 million from the 1st axis of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Program will go to Orlen Południe for the construction of a photovoltaic farm in Rybnik. The funds in the form of repayable aid will be provided to the beneficiary by the NFEPWM. The investment is to be put into operation next year and will cost about PLN 6.8 million.

The construction of a new unit for generating electricity using solar radiation - with a capacity of more than 2 MWe in Rybnik is part of the ORLEN Południe S.A. investment, which aims to develop zero-emission energy sources in the investor's production assets. A component of the project will be a connection to the existing networks belonging to Tauron Dystrybucja S.A. The installation is located in the province. Śląski, in Rybnik is to have a typically commercial function - to sell "green electricity" to the external grid.

The complex will include, among others approx. 5,400 solar panels, 17 network inverters, a container transformer station with a capacity of 2,500 kVA, and switchgears. The expected ecological effects obtained thanks to the operation of the farm include the launch of electricity production from newly built generation capacities of installations using RES (2,158 MWhe / year) and a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere (by 1,636 tons of CO2 equivalent annually).

Co-financing of the investment was made possible by the resources of OPI & E - sub-measure 1.1.1: Supporting investments related to the production of energy from renewable sources, including the connection of these sources to the distribution / transmission network.
